I was asked to share some of my insights about breathing with you. And between finishing our Dreamwalker School last weekend and flying to Romania for our next Dreamwalker School I am trying to do so. I am Lea, working as a teacher of the New Energy in Germany. And the focus of my work is breathing. I cannot tell you how much insight I gained, how much I allowed myself to grow into the person I am now – just by breathing. It is a great tool that helps facilitate the movement of energy and the connection with your soul. Many people have asked me – and they may ask you too – what is so special about breathing. They may say that they have been breathing all their lives and nothing special has ever happened. Now I have some answers to that question and I want to share them with you. When we talk about breathing, we do not mean the shallow everyday breath that happens unconsciously in the background of our lives. When we talk about breathing we talk about evolving, about energy moving and allowing our essence to flow into our body and allowing creative energy to flow into our lives. What do I do when I stand in front of a group of people and I want to invite them to breath? I would say that I start breathing myself, start shifting into that space myself. While I start breathing I share my own experience by using words. I use my words to tell the group where I am and what I am doing. Imagine you want to teach me how to drive a car. You can just drive your car and while doing so, explain to me what you are doing. I can follow your words, your energy and experience driving a car. You just share your experience and your abilities with me. After some years of experience with leading group breathing I can share three very basic steps that make it easy to shift into breathing. Before we start I often explain that breathing is not about trying and forcing yourself to go to a special place inside of you. Remember all the meditation techniques that told us that we have to get rid of all of our emotions and thoughts through discipline? Remember all the breathing techniques where you forcefully pushed your breath until you saw stars? I tell the group that this is an experience where they can be gentle with themselves. How far can I go without pushing, without hurting myself? Our body and our awareness will tell us very precisely how far is far enough. It doesn’t make sense to push for more. First step: Becoming aware of all that I feel I start by feeling and being aware of all the emotions, all the energies that are present in the room. Some of these energies may be nice and pleasant. Other energies may be unnerving or unsettling. And I invite the group to start feeling all the energies. Feel the thoughts in your mind, feel your body, feel the fearful aspects of yourself and feel the joy, the sorrow, everything that is there. Very often seminars are places where we meet feelings that are not easy for us. By inviting the group to start feeling these emotions, these energies emerge out of dark corners. It is like looking under your bed and realizing that the monster you have been so afraid of was never there, maybe it was a sweet teddy bear! Feeling what you feel – sounds easy but we all know that sometimes we would rather run away. By inviting your group to feel, to be aware, you will notice a new balance and stillness. Second step: Being with all that is When you start opening up and feeling all the emotions inside you, the noise around you, there will be some parts inside you that immediately start trying to change, trying to organize all these energies that you unveiled. We all have a crew of city cleaners inside of us that want to get rid of these things. So instead of being active and trying to change the situation, I invite the group to just be with all that is there. Imagine sitting in the middle of an untidy room. Not forcing and trying to change it. Becoming still, settling down and just being with all that is lying around. It is such a relief to sit back for a moment and let things just be as they are. Let your fear just be here with you. Let your anger and disappointment just be here with you. There is enough space for all your feelings and emotions. Third step: Becoming soft Within duality strength meant to be determined, to be focused and to take action – within New Energy true strength starts with the courage to become soft. I like the example of water. Water shows us that the easiest way to let energy flow is by becoming soft. Let your shoulders become soft. Let your thoughts and your emotions become soft. Let your resistance and fear become soft and just see what happens. Becoming soft means that we step out of our own way and allow energies to move. We let go and allow ourselves to evolve. Maybe you ask yourself if I will ever start talking about breathing. Yes, of course. If you allow yourself to go through these three steps you will experience that by now your belly is not so tight anymore, your shoulders are not as stiff. You will feel that your breath is flowing through you with more ease. Now let your breath become softer yet. This soft breath is like water flowing through your body, touching all the parts that are afraid, all the parts that are still tense. With this breath you can do anything. This breath is what I use in my everyday life, in my sessions or seminars. It is truly transforming and life changing. When I feel that I am tense and fearful I remind myself to go through these easy steps and it works every time. I observe that this kind of breathing helps the attendees of my seminars to feel safe, loved and to open up to their experience. So far, we have never had a single meltdown or breakdown in our seminars. Maybe we have just been fortunate, but maybe this breath makes the difference between feeling lost and being overwhelmed by new information and emotions or feeling safe and allowing the experience. In maintaining this gentle flow of energy I allow myself to feel safe and relaxed and I am sure that the attendees of my seminars profit from that very much. Breathing is such a small thing but the benefits of breathing are enormous. It is a wonderful tool that you never have to remember to pack – it is already there, just waiting for you.
