And so we begin together.
As I, Sophia, enter into this space to be with you, to spend some time with you, to look with you at all that is changing within your life right now. To look back at all that has changed already and to look forward at what is going to change. It’s a pleasure for me to be with you. And before we begin I want to spend some time just being with you, just being in your presence. I want to let my breath flow, focus my awareness on you and enjoy this now moment. I take this time to feel my pride in you; the pride that I carry within, pride in you and your path. To feel my joy for everything that is unfolding and surfacing on earth right now. To feel my joy that you are here, to feel my joy for your courage, this deep inner strength that lives within you, and your openness that allows you to take a further step over and over again - not holding onto what seemed to be right yesterday but continuing to walk into the New, into the unknown without fear. I, Sophia, invite you to be fully here, within this now moment, and I invite especially your human self to be here. I want to invite you to experience our gathering today in a new way. You see: so far you have opened up for your feeling, your inner being, the spiritual aspect within you during our shared time. And your human self stepped back a little. And your human self didn’t really understand what you were doing. Your human self went to sleep – metaphorically speaking – while you opened up for something else, for another aspect of yourself. And I, Sophia, want to invite you today to enter into this space firstly with your human self and your human senses. Today your human self is right up front. Today you are invited to allow your human self to feel and to perceive, to experience our shared time. The human self shall not be left out today. In fact it has the seat of honor. It may be here among us and experience all that we share together. And maybe that is a challenge for your human self. And maybe you haven’t allowed your human self to really get to know you yet. And maybe your human self is still convinced that you are someone else. Someone much smaller and not that special. Someone who doesn’t feel very much. Someone who doesn’t create very much or try anything New. Maybe in your early stages of awakening – when you felt that there is more, more of yourself to explore – maybe you cast aside this aspect of yourself because you thought that you had to choose. Because you were sure that this shiny new sparkling self that you had just become aware of didn’t want anything to do with your old self, with the person that you have been. And so you cast aside this entire aspect of yourself. You cast aside your friendships. You cast aside your family, your job, your home, your image of yourself, your identity. You cast aside everything that you have been so far. And your human self was only a minor figure in your life at that time. Not really that important. Maybe even a burden sometimes to look after your human needs. Something else happened when you separated from your human self. Maybe you’ve noticed how many spiritual masters sometimes seem out of touch with reality; sometimes seem dull and serious, disciplined and arrogant. Maybe you have also noticed how distant the spiritual world is from your human self, from your being human. And so when you left behind your human self you also removed yourself a bit more from your human life. I, Sophia, would like to invite you today to feel this inner drive; this inner drive that allowed you to move forward, that allowed you to choose something New for yourself – but also led you to leave behind a part of your vitality, your passion, your compassion, your being human. And so you also became a bit out of touch with reality; a bit distant, a bit dull, a bit arrogant. But there’s nothing wrong with that. And so I, Sophia, would like to invite you today to consider if you want to let this colorful, imperfect, compassionate, strong being that you truly are, your human self, return to your life. In a way it will prevent you from becoming too extreme. Your human self will always bring you back down to earth. Your human self will help to ensure that you don’t become too distant or arrogant but instead more present and compassionate with yourself and others. Can you begin to appreciate your human self again, to develop this pride, this love for yourself again? To notice that this body, this human self with all its needs is not your enemy. It isn’t something that you have to give up. It isn’t something undesirable that holds you back – maybe it’s even something that will help you to become more balanced. *** Your human self also has a deep wisdom; a very fundamental, simple wisdom though not less valuable. Your human self will always bring to your attention when you hurt yourself, when you judge yourself harshly, when you ignore your needs or force yourself to go without something. Your human self will get your attention by being sad, by weeping, by telling you: look you are causing me pain, it hurts. The human self will help you to treat yourself in a different, more lovingly way. You see: your spiritual self is not that connected to the earth and often doesn’t have a sense for these things. In the extreme, your spiritual self only strives for change, for the next insight, for the next step, for the next workshop or seminar, the next book, the next healer or guru. And it forgets that we are not only here on earth to zoom as fast as possible through all of our experiences. But we are here to feel, to feel every experience in its depth; to discover joy in each part of our path. To experience life in its depth instead of just skimming along the surface. And so I, Sophia, ask you now: do you think it’s possible to invite your human self, to invite it back from where you left it some years or some decades ago? To open your door. To smile at your human self and see once again the beauty within you. Not the perfection, not the ambition, not the artificial role that you wanted to play but to see yourself a bit more as you really are. Can you permit everything that you cast aside to return now into your life? Most of you renounced friendship and intimacy either consciously or unconsciously. You got rid of all of your old friends –– and then didn’t allow any new friends to enter into your life. You see: the spiritual self has so much inner discipline and yet so little worldliness. The spiritual self doesn’t feel the pain of loneliness. It doesn’t know why it’s so important to have friends; to laugh together, to share experiences together. The spiritual self only sees the next logical step, the next logical insight. And it doesn’t know why you need friends for that. Why you need beauty and safety and security. The spiritual self has a completely different purpose in mind, a completely different idea of happiness. And so I, Sophia, invite you today to consider if it is still appropriate to have your door closed to friendships. And I don’t mean the superficial friendships that you only keep in your life because you feel obliged to, that mostly weigh you down. I am talking about the friendships from your heart - between you and another person in spite of how different the two of you may be, in spite of how different the paths are that you walk. I am talking about this kind of friendship, this kind of compassion, this kind of fun that we can only experience here on earth. *** Can you allow yourself to experience this again? Can you begin to honor your human needs again that you carry within you and acknowledge them? And to no longer think that it’s a waste of time to truly live. To no longer think that wishing for a beautiful home is merely a waste of time. To no longer believe that it is unnecessary because you can also work on yourself and gain further insights in a small room. To no longer believe that caring about your physical beauty is purely a superficial distraction. But to feel instead that your human self strives for beauty and to blossom as well as your spiritual self - just on a different level. Your human self wishes that your body may begin to reflect your beauty; that your body may begin to reflect how truly perfect you are. And this need is not superficial. This need doesn’t mean that you are still led by some lower desire that will lead you from your path. This need is the longing of your human self to blossom, to be more than ever before. And so you can begin to accept these needs. To grant the fulfillment of these needs. You see: you have been very unfair with yourself during the past several years. You have spread your attention unevenly. You have given your inner, spiritual self much more of your time and attention. You have assigned it much more value. And the human self was always cast aside. It’s not only friendships that you cast aside. It’s not only physical beauty, physical balance and the sense of wellbeing within your body that you cast aside. There were also many more simple human needs that you thought were not spiritual enough, that you ignored. And maybe that’s the reason why it wasn’t possible for you to be completely content with only your spiritual self. Why your life didn’t feel quite full or satisfying. Why you always had the vague feeling that something was missing. *** And it’s not your fault. It’s not about moving forward even faster, advancing even more. But instead it’s time to become slower, to pause and to consider if you really want to keep this essential aspect of yourself in second place any longer. Or do you want to begin to be a human being, a spiritual human being? Do you want to plunge even deeper into this life, to begin looking after all of your needs, not only for some? To say Yes to the beautiful things that your human self is longing for. Your human self doesn’t feel like sacrificing anything anymore, doesn’t feel like being lonely, doesn’t feel like keeping quiet and suppressing itself. Your human self wants to be right up front and contributing to your life as well as your spiritual self. For those of you who like definitions: perhaps we can even describe the spiritual self as being the more masculine principle and the human self as being the more feminine principle. The spiritual self within you wants to continually move forward, continually grow; discover more of itself, experience more of itself. And it is the human self that wants to fully participate here on earth; that needs safety, security, stillness and pleasure in order to be really happy. The human self is longing for beauty - for inner and outer beauty. And maybe you can allow these two aspects within you to rebalance. You don’t have to increase the imbalance so much that your human self gets sick due to sorrow, hardship, sacrifice and cruelty. You can start today to accept your human self again; to befriend your human self and realise that it doesn’t want to hold you back but simply wants to be with you. It simply wants to see and share with you how you live, how you grow and how you blossom. It doesn’t want to be cast aside and treated like an enemy that you must defeat. It simply wants to be with you, to walk with you. And the human self – if you choose – will help you to have a more enjoyable life; a life filled with all the human things that you cast aside for so long; more friendships, more love, more connections, more pleasure, more beauty. The human self is a wonderful teacher who can show you how to come to rest, how to become gentler, more loving with yourself, how to say Yes to such an essential aspect of yourself. *** It’s not about rising above the world, making yourself suppress an aspect of yourself and condemning it. It is really about saying Yes to all that you are. You see: mastery means to say Yes. A Yes in every way, on all levels. A Yes to being human. A Yes to your soul, to your spiritual self. A Yes to all that you are. A master doesn’t have to fear the body and the human self. A master doesn’t have to fear that the joys of living will keep him from growing. A master knows: Everything is here for me. I may accept everything, may explore everything, may enjoy everything. All doors are open for me. Are you ready to take a leap over the old gap of separation and begin a new friendship with yourself? Your life will change as a result. Some of you have been very tough on yourself. Those of you who practiced spirituality like a strict discipline will discover that your human self will help you to take it easier if you invite her in. You won’t feel that you have to abide by your old rules anymore. You will discover much more space will be created for joy; space for the small and the big joys in life. You will discover that you don’t want to be so hard on yourself anymore. You will discover that the judgments you held about yourself will dissolve. And the judgments that you held about other people will also lessen. Perhaps you will notice this when you talk next to friends that you have judged in the past. You will suddenly realize how much you like them just the way they are. And that it’s not important to be perfect, to try to reach a certain level of perfection. You will now see their beauty – their true beauty. You will now be able to also see the true beauty within your family, your colleagues, your own body, your own home. You will be able to perceive these simple things that you perceived as a child. And you will notice that you won’t grow slower on your path - but actually faster. It requires so much more time when only one aspect of you has permission to grow and to flourish instead of allowing the whole of you to evolve. Only then can life become easier and more fulfilled, only then. And another important thing that you will encounter when you accept your human self again is this deep love, this deep pride in yourself. The same pride you had in yourself as a child and you loved yourself just the way you were. You can begin today to accept yourself again, to be proud of yourself, to support yourself, support all that you are and all that you do. To find this deep Yes for yourself again. You see: you also cast this aspect of yourself aside and retreated into the spiritual world because a part of you hated yourself because you’re different, because you’re the way you are. One part of you was ashamed; was ashamed of the questions that you asked, of how different you felt you were. One part of you was so ashamed that you decided: I’m not able to be a regular normal human being who lives here on earth and thrives. I can only associate with other spiritual human beings. They are the only ones who are able to understand me. I can only get along and spend time with them. And so you withdrew more and more from yourself. And you didn’t notice, you didn’t perceive that there is a love for you as you truly are; with all the contrasts that exist within you, with the human self and the spiritual self that are so different and yet complement one another so wonderfully. You didn’t feel at all that there is a greater love for you as you really are. You were so trapped in your story that other people weren’t able to understand you, that they judged you and made fun of you, that you didn’t see that you didn’t understand yourself anymore, that you judged yourself and you made fun of yourself. You didn’t see that the human part of you eventually broke away. This aspect of yourself thought: As I am no longer welcome to be close to you, breathe with you, grow along with you then I may as well leave. Your human self felt rejected over and over again and so finally swallowed hard and gave up. And perhaps it’s time to no longer belittle your human self, no longer make fun of your human self, to no longer control your human self. No longer reject and push away your human self . Maybe it is time to let all that you are be there, including the contrasts; even it makes no sense and feel: there is a deeper love for you. Your soul has a new love, a new energy where all that you are can grow and flourish. Where all that you are may live this life. Where no aspect of yourself has to be cast aside, no need has to be suppressed or ignored. Where everything has its place. Where all that you are may contribute what it has to offer. *** This is the invitation that I, Sophia, have for you today. It is a new form of spirituality that you can explore for yourself. I like to call it human spirituality. Without the coldness, the harshness and the judgment. Without the endless self improvement, the endless criticism, the endless suppression of your real needs. I like to call it human spirituality. You see: that’s what Yeshua (Jesus) allowed himself when he lived - to immerse so deeply into the human experience. And did you notice that it helped him to be even more compassionate, to be even more understanding, to develop even more love for himself. It was not his aim to place himself above such things and to condemn the human experience and speak badly about it. It was his aim to live his life and to grow. Not to fear any part of his life. And so I, Sophia, invite you to take this further step into this new era of human spirituality that seems to be rather plain and ordinary. Not as elaborate and strict as you’ve known in the past; it has no rules, no discipline, no hardship, no sacrifice, no judgments. But only invites you to be a human being. You see: perhaps, only perhaps, it’s not necessary to make something out of this life that it’s not. Perhaps it’s not necessary to create a religion, to create an organization, a discipline, to add something artificial to life. Maybe life itself is religion enough. Maybe each breath is spiritual enough. Maybe each human experience that you have provides you with enough growth. Maybe it’s not necessary to add anything artificial to life, to add anything artificial to your experience. Maybe life itself is the invitation. Maybe it’s enough to live fully, completely. Maybe it’s enough to be yourself just as you are, fully, completely. Maybe you don’t have to make “something better” of yourself, a better human being, a better soul, a more disciplined human being. Maybe it’s enough to be yourself - warts and all, with all the highs and lows of your experiences, with the human self and the spiritual self and the love of your soul. Maybe that’s plenty enough. Perhaps it doesn’t require this huge effort, this struggle for survival that you have fought for so long. Maybe it’s not necessary for you and others to jump through hoops. Maybe it’s not necessary to work on yourself. Maybe it’s enough to explore yourself, to get to know yourself, to befriend yourself. Maybe you chose this life in order to let all insincerity melt, to let go of all the structures that arose from fear. To cease battling with yourself, to let go of all your lofty ambitions, to simply be here. Perhaps that is the answer that you are finding right now within yourself. Maybe it’s enough just as a flower feels that it’s enough to be a flower. To no longer try to embody anything else, to accomplish anything else. And maybe you are also such a flower; enough, wonderful, complete just the way you are. This new human spirituality is an invitation to those of you who have struggled long enough, have worked hard long enough, have judged themselves harshly long enough. For those of you who are truly ready to live and to enjoy the beauty of life from now on. At first it will seem like you aren’t spiritual anymore and everything that kept you busy, that you struggled for, that you worked for and that you wanted to learn is suddenly unimportant. As if your wisdom is worth nothing, as if the many beliefs that you had about yourself are suddenly irrelevant. At first it will seem like you have lost everything. And I, Sophia, want to accompany you in this era of change and want to show you that there is a new wisdom, a new serenity, a new love growing within you. It is the same love that Yeshua felt for all the human beings that he met. The same respect, the same warmth, the same humor, the same compassion and openness that Yeshua held. Yeshua was not a teacher who stood on a pedestal preaching: I am greater than you. I know more than you do. And you are so weak that you will have to work all of your life to become what I am. And even then you will never succeed. No, Yeshua was simply this love - this love, this new human spirituality that unfolded within him so fully. And he showed us: this is the way. This is what you will also experience when the time is right. And I, Sophia, enter here in order to remind you: the time is right to let this human spirituality blossom, to explore what happens when a human being is truly alive. And even though human beings have been on this planet for eons of time, even though there were many civilizations, many cultures that came and went there are only a handful of human beings who were truly alive. Who were truly here, who truly said Yes to themselves. Who were fulfilled within themselves. Who felt so deeply that they were perfect just the way they were. And that is what the new era brings along, what the new era invites you to do: to truly live as never before. To take one more step closer to yourself. You will recognize other human beings who are also walking this path of human spirituality. And it will be easiest for those of you who have had only a few spiritual experiences because you have kept much of your innocence. You have barely begun to manipulate yourself; to change so much, to work so much. It is as Yeshua said: Become like a little child. Allow this innocence, this lightness, this humor within yourself and look with wonder at this new era that is only just beginning. Human spirituality is only just beginning to awaken on this planet. It is truly a special time. *** And I, Sophia, invite you to be so very gentle with yourself, to be so very patient with yourself. Great things are happening deep within you. And it is time to appreciate yourself for all that you experience, to always be as loving with yourself as you are today. I, Sophia, walk this path in joy together with all of you; I share your experience, share your questions, your curiosity, your joy, your fear, your doubts and invite you: let us take this loving breath together, this loving breath that allows for the beginning of human spirituality on this earth, that allows for a new era to begin. Let us take this soft breath together and observe how a soft radiance expands, expands all over this earth, all over this earth. And so we begin together.
